Final Comments about the Landscaping Around Community Signs

The Crier Announcement System

Hi bulyea

Brookview,

Here are some final comments from the community regarding the new landscaping.  It's interesting how the opinions vary so much.

BTW Do you know if the Letters are going to be changed? They are so outdated with the faded gold colour!

Good Morning, I would like to thank the individuals who volunteer
and give up hours of their time to assist in improving our neighbourhood.

The new rock landscaping looks great. By my calculation,

after 30 years of paying approximately $120 a year for a total of $3200,

I am blessed to live in such a beautiful community. Thank you to all who do their best

to make this a safe and welcoming environment.

Honestly, these rocks don’t look very good. Especially the tall stand up one which looks out of place like a head-stone in an grave yard. And the mix of the different rock types and colours is not pleasing.  Why the grey sharp rock (which doesn’t compliment the red brick) over the smooth Montana rainbow rock (which works better with the brick)?  I don’t think you received the best advice on this (was likely just a landscaper versus someone who understands landscape design) and we should stop before rolling it out further. Those tall stones look awful against the brick.

Maybe ask the person in the design Industry below to help for ideas to fix it.  It really does not look professionally thoughtful.  It looks like a landscaper went to the quarry and bought a bunch of different kinds of rock with little regard for balance or the brick signage.

Hello,

I'd like to share my input concerning the new landscaping, I appreciate the effort by the guys doing the work but the design is just very cheap.

It gives the impression of "let's save some money by slapping on a bunch of rocks" I look at whitemud hills all the time while driving by and I see a group of ladies always pruning and planting new plants to make their sign more appealing.

If having plants or shrubs is not possible due to limited resources in maintenance then I rather the money be spent on some led spot lights that is aimed to show our community name.

The new “Reno “ is a disaster and an embarrassment. There is no “design”, but rather a dump of rocks. Dreadfully horrible! Why not get a designer to do it right! I have not had one person we spoke to say they like it.

This is a brutal waste of my fee and why we shouldn’t have them.  What else is this community wasting money on?   What is the cost of doing this and who approved this waste of money?

Thank you so much for your commitment and efforts. I quite like the new look.  And on Buchanan you can READ the area name.  Clean and simple!   A little colour in the spring will be nice.  But good job!

I suggest at minimum we send back the tall tombstone like rocks that really look very out of place against the brick. They would likely save us a couple of thousand dollars.

The Crier Announcement System was created to make residents aware of issues that concern all of the surrounding areas of Riverbend/Terwillegar/Windermere.   Issues include crime awareness and community announcements and any other news worthy items, as well as allow the residents express their concerns and opinions about matters that are important to the general community. The Crier concept is based on the idea of the old town crier of medieval England.  The town crier would walk the streets ringing his bell, shouting "Hear Ye, hear Ye",  followed by an important community announcement.  The Crier is the property of and controlled solely by resident Harold Hornig.

Please tell your neighbours about this group and have them join.
