Brookview Gazebo Project complete!

Dear Brookview residents,

I hope everyone is enjoying our lovely weather!  I wanted to announce that the Brookview Gazebo Project is finally complete with the installation of the donor plaque just over a week ago.  The gazebo was installed in late October and included the 25' x 25' gazebo structure, two covered picnic tables, as well as one uncovered picnic table placed on a cement pad near the tire swings.

As many of you are aware, this project started as one to plan and fundraise for a new spray park in Bulyea Park over 8 years ago.  Due to provincial budget cuts in 2020 we were unable to be approved for a critical major grant despite applying for it three times which forced us to look into putting our fundraised money towards a less expensive, but still City owned community project.  Due to it needing to be a City owned project (thanks to City fundraising rules) we were unable to put the funds towards the proposed new Brookview skating rink which will be owned and operated by the Brookview Community League.  The idea of the gazebo came up and fortunately we were able to see this project built under a year after the proposal.

I want to thank everyone who volunteered to help with this project and the spray park project that preceded it.  Special thanks to the generous donors who helped us meet our fundraising goals including BHOA and BCL.  Thank you as well to past spray park committee volunteers including Jessica Popadynetz, Lindsay D'Agostini, Jocelyn Edey, Elizabeth Gaumont, and Carlin Gurjar.  Without all of your support this project would not have come into fruition to enhance our beautiful community.  Looking forward to seeing it used in the spring!
